Who is East Coast Generators?
At East Coast Generators (Incorporating Generator Rentals Australia) we have been helping communities, organisations and individuals to resolve their power supply power problems promptly for nearly 30 years, through generator hire, generator sales and generator service.
We are a family owned and operated business, whom are dedicated to providing customer service 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We have grown to a staff of over 20 people. Power interruption, for whatever reason can happen at any time, our immediate response can be your saviour.
Our ‘in house’ capabilities mean that we are totally self-reliant and always in charge of your solution. With an extensive fleet of modern generators from 2kVA to 1500kVA and the ability to parallel, we can produce solutions greater than 10,000kVA within 1 working day. Our generators are supported by an extensive inventory of cable sets, distribution boards, extension leads, cable covers, junction boxes and transfer switches which will provide you with an ‘end to end’ solution.

Our generator rental capabilities are very broad, with services that will, more than likely, satisfy your personal needs, or the needs of your group.
Our own truck fleet ensures that your power generation solution arrives at your site exactly when you require it. We have over 20+ staff members and the technical expertise to deliver the best solution for your individual problem, and the operational experience to deliver it, fast and safely. Throughout our response we will communicate and consult with you to ensure that we are always meeting your needs. Whether you are organising an event, months in advance, or covering a scheduled power outage next week, or even dealing with an emergent power outage now. We are here to assist! In addition, we can provide a broad range of load banks and lighting towers for hire.
Our modern workshop facilities support the maintenance and repair of our own fleet and provide us with a broad offering of electrical and mechanical support services to diesel generator owners and operators. Many of our customers choose to take up a service contract with us, which for a fixed price provides a service and maintenance regime designed to meet the customer’s duty application. Work is often undertaken ‘out of hours’ to meet our customers’ business needs. New technology is providing controllers with greater functionality and remote monitoring capabilities. We are able to ‘up fit’ new controllers to existing generators.
Where we have come from!
In 1991 Ken Maher acquired an existing generator hire business and relocated it to North Melbourne, commencing with five staff. Ken’s 20 years’ experience in electrical fitting/engineering with the Victorian railways was of great assistance in developing the specialist skills required to cope with Power Generation.
In 2008 the business was relocated from North Melbourne to a newer facility in Altona North. This facility was upgraded with the installation of a 25Ton overhead crane to handle the logistics of the business in a much more time efficient manner.
Ken and Maree’s son, Jarrod has been a part of the business from an early age while working weekends and holidays during school years. He continued this part time work during his time at University while studying Electrical Engineering. At the completion of these studies he joined the business full time. Jarrod has, over this period of many years, fulfilled all technical and logistical roles, and more recently adopted a role in management.
Jarrod and Ken bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the business and, along with a quality management team, continue to guide the future development of East Coast Generators beyond what it is today.
